The problem
Mercedes-Benz required an advanced system to remotely track and report daily water and electricity consumption from Auckland to its central office in Europe. Specific requirements: real-time, accurate power and water consumption data; integration with Mercedes-Benz's proprietary monitoring platform in Europe; a reliable Modbus-based wired solution to address cybersecurity concerns; and compliance with European energy efficiency regulations.
What we did
Smart Metering implemented an end-to-end IoT metering system. Smart water and power meters: Honeywell V200 water meters with PR6 communication modules, plus Eastron three-phase and single-phase power meters to capture energy usage. Centralised data communication: all meters integrated with the MUC.EASYPlus data concentrator, ensuring Modbus compatibility with Mercedes-Benz headquarters. Efficient implementation: installation, testing and integration completed in one day, minimising disruption. Custom engineering: rigorous pre-installation lab testing ensured data accuracy and reliable reporting to headquarters.
